On November 7 to take kids
out-of-home
The idiot box will become 'idiot' in its true sense on
November 7 as the popular kids channel Nickelodeon will
go blank on the day. The aim is to encourage kids to go
out and play and breathe in fresh air.
The first of its kind in India, massive 10
hour long Playathons will be organized at the outdoors
of various places in five major cities including Inorbit
Mall in Mumbai, Ambience Mall in Gurgaon (Delhi-NCR),
Moti Mahal grounds in Lucknow, RSI grounds in Bangalore
and Prasad iMax in Hyderabad on November 7 which wil
culminate in grand finale at 4 pm. Playathon which is a
part of Nick's six week initiative
which began in September will comprise of an inter-schol
sports event consisting twisted and high energy games in
its first half and then, it will move onto the movement
therapy and funky dance workshops.
Using the power of its medium to persuade kids through
constant interactivity, Nick pledges kids' participation
in this movement by logging onto its website
www.nickindia.com. The General Manager and Senior Vice
President of Nick India, Nina Elavia Jaipuria asserts,
Nick has always been a responsible broadcaster
and we strive to go beyond just entertainment. Nick is
deeply concerned about the issue of lack of play in the
lives of kids and is pulling out all the steps to
inspire as many kids and parents as possible. The
Plaython is a step in the dirsction of changing the
lifestyle of our future generations forever.
At the event, kids will get the opportunity to play
unique games such as Giant Slippers, 3 Team Football and
Under the Ropes and have fun with their favourite 'Nicktoons'
such as Ninja Hattori, Dora-The Explorer, SpongeBob
Square Pant and Perman.
Mr Balan Kannan, General Manager of Chocolate and
Confectionary Nestle India, the Co-sponsor of the event
says, Nestle Milkybar has been taking leading
initiatives in the chocolate industry, helping kids to
lead a balanced lifestyle. All our communication for
Nestle Milkybar stresses Dum Hai To Bahar Nikal meaning
Have Courage, Come Out to encourage kids to go outdoors.
The support for 'Let's Just Play' 2009 is a part of our
endeeavour to see more kids outdoors.
The famous Bollywood actor and former chairperson of the
Children's Film Society of India Ravina Tandon feels
great for having associated with the event and advices
the parents, too. I personally believe that kids must
have an active lifestyle because play is such an
integral part of growing-up. 'Let's Just Play' is a
pioneering initiative that I truly support. In my
contribution to this movement, I appeal to each parent
and kids alike to take it as a personal challenge and
ensure that they spend at least an hour playing outdoors
every day.
'Let's just play' is Nickelodeon's pioneering movement
worldwide at imbibing active play in the lifestyle of
today's kids in order to strike a balance between the
kids' life indoor and their life outdoors. |
