Carriage Fee A Bone of Contention |
|
On 3rd of September two private channels,
Total TV and Chardhikala Time TV approached
TDSAT against Prasar Bharti’s move to
increase the fee for carrying their channels
on its DTH platform DD Direct. Prasar Bharti
had last month increased the carriage fee
for their DD Direct+ DTH platform from 25
lakhs to 60 lakhs.
TDSAT directed Total TV to deposit a sum of
Rs 25 lakh with the respondent towards the
carriage fee on a provisional basis. The
respondent will continue to carry the
channel. |

TRAI on 01 September 2008 issued a
Tariff Order and a Direction mandating
several regulatory measures to improve
transparency in tariff offers in
access service and other consumer
protection measures. |

IPTV Guideline Issued |
|
Giving a nod to the IPTV provisioning
guidelines on 8 September 2008 as
recommended by TRAI the government
said that these IPTV Guidelines are
being issued with the objectives of
bringing clarity on various platforms
of providing IPTV services. |

This years IBC2008 proved to be a
record-breaking event attendance, the
number of registrations and exhibitors
